DNC Finally Starts Its Long Overdue Effort To Clean House

Today’s news has the following long overdue announcement from the Democratic National Committee:

“Democrats have alternated between internal finger-pointing and uneasy soul searching after an intensely rocky year. The painful 2016 cycle capped eight years under President Obama that saw the party lose more Senate, House, Governor and state legislative seats than under any other president in American history. Last year saw the abrupt resignation of then-DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, as well as a presidential primary that many believed favored Hillary Clinton.” So as a result of the Dems election debacle in November 2016, the new DNC chairman is asking all staff at the Democratic National Committee to submit resignation letters by the end of April 2017.

This is many months overdue. Among the questions the new DNC Chairman Tom Perez  should be asking is how the DNC got so corrupt and incompetent? How did hacks like Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and others allow the Dems to lose more Senate, House, Governor and state legislative seats than under any other president in American history?

Why did the Party intentionally derail Bernie Sanders’ campaign? How could they have less internet security than an ice cream store? Where did all the millions in salaries go?

So the presidential election tragedy has happened and now the next dark phase is beginning.

It will last for years. It will see an unravelling of many democratic programs, a sanctioned anti-investor program, more privatization, a looting of public funds for private gain, a rising deficit and, if the top economists in the nation are to be believed, a high probability of recession.

It also means the demise of the Democrat Party due to old-fashioned hubris, arrogance, job preservation concerns, making consistently bad decisions and prejudice against the best candidate, Bernie Sanders, who could have swept the presidency, and brought in more Democrats to Congress.

There is a huge amount of blame involved at the highest levels of the Democrat Party, including its well-paid advisors, consultants and strategists.  There were too many highly paid people who did not deserve their jobs who participated in this failure.  Now, it is time for people to be held accountable.

Huma Abedin
Huma Abedin: A liability

There certainly is no shortage of blame and those specific names are being published in articles from writers who have better connections and a presence in Washington DC than I do.  But it is clear Hillary Clinton surrounded herself with bad advisors, many of them too inexperienced or arrogant who took the high road when they should have gotten into the mud against the guy who is widely considered the most unqualified person ever to run for the presidency.

While many in the media are now taking the high road and saying the nation should “wait and see” if this man becomes “presidential,” anyone with a brain knows that will not happen. At 70-years-old, and with a sociopathic history in business and relations with others, Trump will not become “presidential.”  That is another media fantasy from the same media which enabled Trump and gave him millions in free coverage because they were too cheap and lazy to investigate his past.

My one observation about the bad decisions Clinton made was that she kept her aid, Huma Abedin in her post, while her husband Anthony Weiner was being changed with sexting. It’s clear Weiner has mental problems, so why keep his wife in a sensitive post when one of them clearly represents a security threat. That scenario is common in almost all spy movies: a compromised person is easy to blackmail or, if they are mentally unstable, can be easily manipulated. Yet, Clinton kept Huma as an aid and then wondered how e-mails top Huma ended up on Weiner’s computer.

While no one knows these details yet, after 30-plus years of being investigated by zealous Republicans, Clinton and her top advisors should have seen this coming. Clinton suffers from the same insular world of toothless advisors that made Trump, except Clinton has a softer heart. But a softer heart does not compensate for bad judgment. Now the nation will suffer for years to come.

My suggestion is that the top 20 people at the Democratic National Committee resign and re-pay their salaries  and expense accounts since the start of the Democrat campaign season. They did not earn heir money. Instead, that money should go back into the coffers for Democrat candidates at the state and local levels. The party should be built up from the local and state level. The top national positions are  still dominated by the richest people in the nation, so they can raise their own money.

In the interim, the top DNC people should all be forced to watch the upcoming dismantling of the nation by the right for 24 hours a day.  After all, they created this mess and need to be held accountable.
